You can use it for a residence, office building, hospital, school, etc. Designing and maintaining a LAN is simple.

WAN or Wide Area Network: A computer network that covers a wide geographic area is known as a WAN. A wide area network (WAN) is a network of local area networks (LANs) linked together via radio waves and phone lines.

Private ownership of the wide area network is possible or unlikely. PSTN or satellite links are two communication methods for wide area networks. However, long-distance transmission makes noise and inaccuracy more common in WANs. One of the most significant issues here is propagation latency.

In contrast to LAN, WAN uses switching, enabling many computers to connect with various switches rather than one another. To transfer packets, it also employs the store-and-forward principle, in which data is temporarily in a buffer before being transmitted along a predetermined path to the destination.
